The Overabundance of God

Rises each morning anew with the never-weary sun,

Composes texture with endless iterations of cloud or simply

Wipes horizon-to-horizon clean right down to blue.

Saturates soil and seas, grains of sand, drops of dew,

Stockpiles mountains in ranges, gushes streams into rivers,

Indulges in antelopes and microbes, marigolds and bees.

Undulates acres of wheat, dapples leaves on spring trees,

Soars in the psalms of sparrows-for-a-penny,

Cycles the great goodness of each season on endless repeat.

Removes sin as far as east from west, forgiveness complete.

Loves lavishly from the bottomless depths of his everness,

Fortifies each evening with never-old mercies and grace-swaddled rest.
