The Parables of the Lost Sheep and Lost Coin

Luke 15:3-10

The secrets belong to You.

As You did for Your disciples,

Can You take me aside,

And explain to me the meaning?

For I have spent hours

Sweeping and searching

For the lost coin,

And coming up empty.

So, giving up

On this seemingly impossible task

I went out of doors--

Thinking I’d try my hand at

Looking for the lost sheep.

I tumbled in the brambles

Spent a cold night

A thousand nights

In the dark

Suspended somewhere on a cliff

Between survival

And death.

And then,

In the looking,

I felt your warm chest,

Your steady breathing,

The steam of Your breath

Cutting through the bitter air

And warming me from within,

Your strong arms wrapping around me,

Carrying me home.
