guidelines

poetry:

  • See “About” section to get a feel for what kind of poetry we are looking for

  • Up to 3 poems per submission

  • Poems can be any length

  • Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please inform us if your piece is accepted elsewhere

prose:

  • Prose is distinct from poetry in that it has a more natural flow of speech & structure; see “About” section to get a feel for what we are looking for

  • Less than 1,000 words

  • One prose piece per submission

  • Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere

musings:

  • Our Musings are meant to set readers on a path to meditating on certain concepts or certain aspects of God’s character. Part of being a Christian is accepting that we don’t know everything, that there are things we cannot explain, Musings can tackle these areas and leave readers in a place of pondering.

  • No less than 500 words, no more than 1,000

craft:

  • Craft articles should explain a creative exercise or form that creative writers can use to hone their craft. Your post should include both a clear connection on how this exercise relates to the spiritual discipline of writing and an example of the completed exercise so your readers can have a practical model to follow.

  • You can also choose to explore the work of a particular writer in a Craft Article. Your post should directly reference one or more of the poet’s work and how they might be a model for us today, both in a spiritual and practical approach to writing.

  • No less than 1,500 words, no more than 2,000

  • Craft Submissions will be exclusively posted on our Substack and are open year-round.
